The role of sand in casting production is extremely important. The casting waste caused by the poor quality of sand is about 30~50% of the total scrap.

The usual requirements for sand are:

1 has high strength and thermal stability to withstand various external forces and high temperature effects.

2 Good fluidity, that is, the ability of the sand to move between the sand particles under the action of external force or gravity.

3 A certain plasticity, that is, the deformation of the molding sand under the action of external force, and the ability to maintain the shape given when the external force is removed.

4 better gas permeability, that is, the ability of the sand to penetrate the gas.

5 high collapsibility, also known as sanding, that is, whether the sand is easily damaged after the casting is solidified, and whether it is easy to remove from the casting.
