Shortstop has become a very difficult position to fill. It offers very little power, made evident by the fact that only four shortstops hit 20 or more home runs last year. If you’re looking for steals, however, this is where you find ‘em. Twenty five shortstops racked up double-digit totals last season, including seven who stole 20-plus.
There’s a steep drop off after Ramirez and Tulowitzki, although Reyes could re-join the elite ranks given a full season in the lineup. Derek Jeter should bounce-back from a career-worst season, while rising stars such as Ian Desmond and Starlin Castro bring hope to fantasy managers in the later rounds...
Game No. 17 of 162 in Fantasy Baseball Insiders' summer-long journey featured a revived Jose Reyes, and an impressive pitching performance this week's hottest pickup.
Game No. 17 - Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets
Jose Reyes had his best game of the young season Tuesday night against the Cubs, going 4-for-5 with a stolen base and two RBI. Two of his hits were bloop singles, while another was a hard-hit grounder up the middle. He made the most noise, however, with a two-run triple in the second, a well-hit ball that split the gap in left-center.
Game No. 11 in our journey to score 162 games this baseball season featured the Brewers and Cubs in an exciting finish at Wrigley Field.
Game No. 11 – Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
Randy Wells was the story of the first half of this game, striking out six batters through four, all against the Brewers’ one through three batters (Rickie Weeks, Corey Hart, Ryan Braun).
With two outs in the fifth, Rickie Weeks worked a nine-pitch at-bat, forcing Wells to labor for the first time all day. After fouling off three pitches and running the count full, Weeks delivered the Brewers’ first runs of the day, whacking a two-run double into the left-field corner that tied the game...

Game No. 6 – Cleveland Indians at Detroit Tigers
Friday’s game featured few hits, few strikeouts and one enormous error by third baseman Jhonny Peralta.
Grady Sizemore finished with two hits and a stolen base. One of the hits was a rope off the wall for a triple. Grady is now batting .316 on the season and just may be on his way back to prominence...
