2011 Fantasy Baseball Closer’s Corner, Week 3: Matt Thornton, Ryan Franklin, Joe Nathan & More

The start of the 2011 season has been filled with surprises, particularly in terms of blown saves. The White Sox's and Cardinals' bullpens have been especially unpredictable recently. Here's the latest...

2011 Fantasy Baseball Closer’s Corner: More Than Half of MLB Teams Have a New Source for Saves

Closers are the most overrated players in fantasy baseball. The good ones deliver strong contributions to one category, but generally pitch less than five innings per week. During drafts, I usually ignore the position until the late rounds. Despite this strategy, my teams are usually very strong in the saves category. In fact, my teams have finished tied-first, second, first and first in saves over the last four seasons in my 10-team roto keeper league. How is this possible you ask? It’s simple really. Let me run some numbers by you…

2011 Closer’s Corner: Papelbon, Cordero, Rivera, Soria & Wilson Are The Only Reliable Options

Over the last three years, only five closers have recorded at least 30 saves each season (Jonathan Papelbon, Francisco Cordero, Mariano Rivera, Joakim Soria and Brian Wilson). This fact alone illustrates the high turnover rate at this unstable position. Every week during the 2011 season, I'll update the Closer's Corner as ninth-inning roles change hands. In the meantime, I'll post updates as free agents continue to sign and spring training battles become more clear...

Ticket Liquidator

Interest is peaking among those who seek cheap tickets to MLB games, especially the stadiums that fill up fast and sell out quick like Fenway Park seats, cheap Yankees baseball games and the big one in July; the 2011 MLB All-Star Game in Phoenix. Before that, though, don't forget to check out these seats at the College World Series 2011. As we head into spring, there are other sports hitting their high notes, including cheap games at the NBA finals, action in the octagon at a MMA Fight Night and other fight tickets including the 2011 boxing schedule.
